About the Project We invite highly motivated PhD candidates to join our project on electric motor design, focused on advancing direct-drive architectures with next-generation applications, e.g., eVTOL aircraft, with better performance and efficiency. Your work may include electromagnetic and thermal motor modeling, novel direct-drive design and optimization, and the development of AI-driven algorithms for design exploration, control/diagnostics, or inverse design workflows. The project also offers the opportunity to contribute to new material development and assess how emerging material properties can improve torque density, efficiency, and reliability. As this is an industry-oriented project, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with our industrial partner, including participation in project meetings, data/model exchanges, and (where relevant) guidance on practical design requirements and validation tasks.
