About the project

About the Project Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way power electronic systems are designed, controlled, monitored, and optimized. Future energy systems, including electric vehicles, renewable energy converters, battery energy storage systems, wireless power transfer systems, AI data centers, and solid-state transformers, are expected to operate autonomously with enhanced efficiency, reliability, and adaptability. Achieving this vision requires the integration of advanced AI technologies with next-generation power electronics. This PhD project aims to develop cutting-edge AI methodologies for intelligent power electronic systems. Research topics may include machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative AI, digital twins, physics-informed neural networks, and large language models (LLMs) for power electronics applications. The successful candidate will investigate AI-assisted converter design, intelligent control, predictive maintenance, health monitoring, fault diagnosis, digital twin development, and autonomous energy management. Potential application areas include renewable energy systems, electric transportation, battery management systems, wireless power transfer, robotics, aerospace electrification, and AI data center power infrastructures. The project offers opportunities to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, power electronics, and sustainable energy technologies. Students will gain expertise in both advanced AI algorithms and practical hardware implementation using state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. The research outcomes are expected to contribute to high-impact journal publications, international conferences, and industrial collaborations. Candidates with strong backgrounds in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: • Power Electronics • Electrical Engineering • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning • Control Systems • Computer Engineering • Energy Systems • Applied Mathematics Programming experience in Python, MATLAB/Simulink, machine learning frameworks, or embedded systems will be advantageous.
