About the Project DNA is a powerful material for nanotechnology because its sequence, structure and assembly can be precisely programmed. However, its chemical functionality remains largely limited to the four natural bases, limiting its application space in nanotechnology. This PhD project will develop new strategies for attaching functional molecules directly to the DNA backbone, enabling DNA to be densely modified without requiring individually synthesised building blocks.
