About the project

CDTs that continue, but are no longer recruiting are:

Analytical Sciences

Producing postgraduates with a unique combination of skills in exploiting synergies between different experimental methods and in harnessing the power of combining data collection with experimental design, analysis and simulation.

Diamond Science

A gateway to the best in the UK's diamond research. Producing researchers with a skill set that matches the interdisciplinary nature of research required to establish the UK as a front runner in the development and exploitation of emerging DST.

FIND

Led by the University of Bristol. The FIND-CDT is a leading international centre of excellence that provides doctoral training in sensing, imaging and analysis for the vital field of Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE).

Future Mobility Technologies

Engineering and WMG jointly train cohorts of students who choose research across two streams: Wide Bandgap Power Electronics and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles whilst working closely with multiple leading organisations.

Midlands4Cities (AHRC)

The PhD training and development hub for the Faculty of Arts at Warwick. PhD students from every department across the Faculty of Arts join the centre to take full advantage of its interdisciplinary events and networks.

Mathsys

Dedicated to tackling real-world problems requiring the development of novel mathematics, tackling problems through interaction with external partners from industry, finance and health representing the leading UK establishments.

TRANSFORM

A Leverhulme Trust programme providing a new research training pathway for sustainability science at Warwick, offering scholarships to train a new generation of transdisciplinary leaders who are able to address current and future sustainability challenges.

Previous CDTs that have now concluded are:

Bridges Programme Provided PhD students with deep knowledge of contemporary research questions in the social sciences, and training in mathematical and computational approaches needed to answer them.

Complexity Science Trained a new generation of complexity scientists at PhD level, teaching knowledge and skills to understand, control and design complex systems

MASDOC Ran jointly between the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics. MASDOC had broad scope, but is rooted in four themes: analysis, computation and numerical analysis, probability, and statistics.

MOAC Established in 2003 to catalyse research and training at Warwick across the physical/life sciences interface. It was formed in response to the EPSRC’s aim to embed physical sciences methodologies into solving biological sciences problems.

Integrated Magnetic Resonance Involved internationally-leading researchers at the Universities of Warwick, St Andrews/Dundee, Southampton, Nottingham and Aberdeen as well as all the major industrial Magnetic Resonance companies.

OxWASP Provided the organisation, environment and personnel needed to develop the future industrial and academic research leaders in statistics for modern day science, exemplified by 'big data'.

Sustainable Materials offered an EngD International qualification, addressing industry-driven research challenges and ultimately establishing economic and environmental sustainability.

SynBio a 4-year doctoral programme that offered training in the new field of Synthetic Biology, the 'Engineering of Biology'. This centre is a collaboration between the Universities of Warwick, Oxford and Bristol.

Systems Biology Students received state-of-the-art training in systems biology research and carry out a wide range of exciting PhD projects focusing on model bacterial, animal and plant systems.

Urban Science Enabled future cities to deliver services, while keeping their citizens safe, healthy, prosperous, and well informed, requiring a step-change in knowledge and understanding, focussing on transforming city-scale data.
