About the project

The Fitness to Practise (FtP) bursary is available for applicants who are eligible for Contextual Admissions to help towards the cost of the Fitness to Practise checks (DBS and Occupational health checks).

The FtP bursary amounts to £85 for applicants to use towards the cost of the non-academic conditions of their offer, including:

The FtP bursary may not cover the full costs of these checks, however it will provide support towards the total amount.

  • UK DBS Check and/or Update Service
  • Overseas Criminal Record Check (if applicable)
  • Occupational Health Check
  • Vaccination Costs

Eligible programmes

Unfortunately, you are not eligible for the FtP bursary if any of the following apply to you:

  • Diagnostic Radiography BSc
  • Healthcare Science BSc
  • Medicine MBBS 5-year
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Paramedic Science BS
  • Physiotherapy BSc
  • Radiotherapy and Oncology BSc
  • You are a graduate applicant
  • You received an offer last year and deferred your entry
  • You received an offer through UCAS Clearing.

How to apply

Please note that application are now closed.

Simply complete the FtP Bursary Claim Form and email it to admissions@sgul.ac.uk with the subject line 'FtP Bursary Claim Form' by 15 July , and we'll do the rest.

You will also need to attach copies of all reciepts to your email when sending us your completed form.

Make sure you complete both tabs of the Claim Form.

Once submitted, the Admissions team will verify your request before submitting your claim to the Finance team. We will email you when your claim has been submitted to Finance, or if there are any issues with your claim that we need to discuss; this may take one-two weeks.

Please note:

It can take up to six weeks for your bursary to be received by your bank, so we advise you to start your Fitness to Practise checks before receiving the bursary if the deadline of 15 July is approaching. The deadline will not be extended due to a delay in claiming and/or receiving the FtP bursary.
