Research Associate in 2D (opto)spintronics and (spin)caloritronics (Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
We are looking for a Research Associate in 2D (opto)spintronics and (spin)caloritronics. Applicants should have significant experimental expertise in working with 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, particularly with electrical, spintronic, thermal and thermoelectric measurements in devices based on them.
The role holder will, together with a team of PhD students, design and carry out experimental investigations in the spintronic, orbitronics, thermal and thermoelectric properties of 2D materials and heterostructures, particularly including topological materials (e.g. Chern insulators and Weyl semimetals), magnets and ferroelectrics. They will perform device fabrication and characterisation using the facilities of the Guimarães group, CORDE, and the Cambridge Graphene Centre.
Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in physics or a related field. Appointment at Research Associate is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will initially be appointed at Research Assistant level and progress to Research Associate once the PhD is awarded.
