Personal statement

I am currently in receipt of a three-year studentship from the School of Education. My research is concerned with exploring how applied theatre and participatory performance practices can be used to better understand the lived experience of young people from seaside towns.

The research is particularly concerned in the overlaps and dissonances in theory relating to applied theatre methodologies and interpretative phenomenological analysis.

I'm a facilitator and writer for stage and screen, and am currently a writer on attachment at Bristol Old Vic. My first feature film is in development with Wellington Films. Credits include work for Paines Plough, Bath Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, Theatre West, The Bunker Theatre and Vault Festival. I have been a writer in residence with various companies and organisations across the UK, as well as having been invited onto numerous development and commissioning schemes including for the BBC and Creative England. I am a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writer’s programme. 'Play 29' is published by Oberon.

Prior to starting my PhD I worked in Higher Education as a producer on research, outreach and digital projects.
