What we do
Our Doctoral Training Centre provides excellent postgraduate research opportunities. These opportunities are supported by a wide programme of skills training and professional development activities.
The DTC supports fully-funded studentships across a broad range of subject domains. Our PhD students engage in both internally-funded and partner-funded projects.
The focus of our studentships is industry collaboration with external organisations. This is to provide added value to research projects and support the professional development of each doctoral candidate.
Each studentship aligns with our strategic focus and an area of existing research strength. These opportunities contribute to the achievement of regional and national research goals. Additionally, they support development investment agendas for growth.
What we provide
Each student is awarded a fully-funded studentship for three years, comprising of:
- An annual stipend
- Funding to support additional research activities
- Opportunities to undertake industrial placements
- A dedicated support team – academic and administrative
- An events programme including external speakers, networking opportunities, and careers support
- Tuition fees. EU and international applicants may apply but will have to pay the difference in tuition fees between the UK and EU/International fee rates
- A bespoke cohort programme of training and development. This programme focuses on research skills and professional development. The programme aligns with impact agendas and student needs
