Personal statement
Geza is a practice-based PhD researcher and visual artist at Bath Spa University. His research investigates the representation of time and existence through contemporary visual art, with a particular focus on photography, moving image, and experimental film. His doctoral research explores the proposition that the present does not exist as a tangible moment, asking how artistic practice can reveal the instability and elusiveness of the ‘now’.
Building on his MA Fine Art (Photography) studies at Bath Spa University, Geza combines artistic experimentation with philosophical and scientific approaches to time. His practice uses photography, video, duration, repetition, change, and observation as methods of investigating temporality and perception.
Through projects including Danger Soft Mud and Erasure of Now, he explores the relationship between past, present, and future, and examines the limitations of photography and moving image in capturing the present. His research aims to contribute to contemporary discussions of time, perception, and existence within 21st-century visual art.
