PhD by Publication

About the project

Coventry University’s unique PhD by Publication programme is designed for active researchers who have already produced a number of publications but have not been awarded a PhD.

This route differs from a ‘traditional’ PhD as it allows you to use existing publications to form a research portfolio.

You will receive supervision to identify the outputs for your portfolio and complete the PhD submission process. The portfolio of research outputs must be accompanied by a critical overview, which indicates the coherence of, and rationale for, the submitted work.

Dr Stephen Dawkins

"My experience of completing a PhD by Publication with Coventry University has been nothing but positive. The process for completing is very clear and the support from everyone, from my supervisory team to the staff in the Doctoral College, has been amazing. Like any PhD, it is a significant undertaking, especially when working full-time, but it is the level and quality of support that helped me to successfully complete."

Dr Ellie Hickman

“Completing my PhD by publication at Coventry University is a significant milestone in strengthening my research capabilities and opening new doors in my professional journey. I am deeply grateful to Coventry University for their support throughout this process. The resources, expertise, and support have been instrumental in helping me grow as a researcher and thought-leader in the field of Customer Experience (CX)."
