PDC Representatives' Network

About the project

The PDC Representatives' Network was established in January 2022 and brings together postdoctoral researchers and academic staff from Schools across the University's three Faculties.

The network plays a key role in ensuring that the Postdoctoral Development Centre (PDC) continues to meet the diverse needs of Queen's postdoctoral community. Representatives provide valuable feedback on PDC initiatives, helping to shape priorities and influence the development of relevant and impactful programmes, services, and activities. Each School and Faculty determines its own representation, with some choosing to appoint more than one representative.

Representatives act as a vital link between postdocs and the PDC. They communicate the views, needs, and experiences of postdocs within their local areas, ensuring these inform PDC planning and decision-making. In turn, they help promote PDC opportunities, initiatives, and key information to postdocs, academic colleagues, and senior leaders across their Schools and Faculties.

As local champions for the postdoctoral community, representatives also serve as a point of contact within their School or Centre. They work with senior management to strengthen support for postdocs, encourage engagement through local events and communications, and help promote the effective implementation of relevant policies and practices. Where appropriate, representatives may also establish a local team of postdoctoral volunteers to support activities and strengthen engagement across their community.
