Benefits of research studentships

Many of our PhD students work closely with business partners through placements, projects and sponsorships. These studentships provide companies with access to knowledge and skills from a wide range of academic disciplines.

The advantages of a PhD studentship include:

• opportunities to direct new research to address your business challenges
• a manageable way to take advantage of university research
• access to the latest research thinking
• well-established and clearly defined co-funding schemes
• future recruitment opportunities

How research studentships are funded

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) fund studentships through specific schemes. Doctoral Training Partnerships are one example of the types of postgraduate schemes available. Our Doctoral College brings together our postgraduate research community.

Most of our research studentships include opportunities to use our facilities as well as access to research through knowledge transfer initiatives.

You can also work with our academics to define a research studentship project that meets your needs.
