College Postgraduate Studentships

About the project

These highly competitive awards are offered to candidates starting PhD programmes.

The studentships cover all UK / EU tuition fees and a maintenance allowance broadly equivalent to those of the UK Research Councils and the British Academy.

Research costs may also be paid.

Eligibility

These awards are judged solely on the basis of academic merit. Successful applicants are most often holders of first class or upper second class honours degrees from UK institutions or the overseas equivalent.

Candidates who have obtained a Masters degree with distinction will also be considered.

International students

International students applying for studentships must also apply for an Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship or be able to demonstrate the availability of funds to meet the full overseas tuition fee.

• Although the College of Science and Engineering does not offer any specific College Postgraduate Research Studentships, there are other funding opportunities within its Schools. These include UK Research Council funding and School-funded opportunities. Prospective students should look up the webpage of the School in which they wish to study, via the link above, for further information.
