Introduction to LJMU Scholarships

Our scholarships range from £3,000 to £4,500 off your tuition fees. You do not need to apply for these separately. If you meet the criteria, we will send an update of your scholarship status in your unconditional offer letter.

Please note: Courses with fees under £17,250 are not eligible for scholarships. However, students holding offers for these courses may still receive the Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount if they pay their deposit early. MPhil, PhD, part-time and distance learning students are not eligible for any discounts. Please see the application date page for relevant deadlines.

Eligibility

• Be a self-funded international student.
• Meet the conditions stated in your full-time course offer letter.

Essential criteria

• Must have an offer and have firmly accepted their place before they are eligible to apply.
• Not have already studied an undergraduate degree at LJMU (for UG scholarship).
• Not have already studied a postgraduate degree at LJMU (for PG scholarship).
• Have the funds to cover the remaining living costs, travel and any other costs associated with studying at the University.
• Not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorship.

Internal Funded Scholarships

When you apply for your chosen course, you will automatically be considered for the relevant scholarship. You do not need to submit a separate application.

Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount

LJMU offers a £500 Early Payment Discount to all self-funded international students. Students who pay their fees by the required deadlines will get £500 automatically deducted from their first year of tuitions fees.

September 2027 Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses: 7 July 2027

September 2027 Nursing and Social Work Courses: 31 May 2027

September 2027 - Undergraduate A Level and UK Domiciled Students: 9 August 2027

Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount for January 2027 Business and Law

The Early Bird Tuition Fee Discount has been increased for students holding offers for January 2027 entry to the following postgraduate taught programmes:

Eligible students for these courses could now receive a £1,500 Early Bird Discount from their tuition fees - an increase of £1,000 from the standard amount. To qualify, students must pay their £5,000 deposit by the below deadlines:

• LLM Artificial Intelligence and Law
• LLM International Business Corporate and Finance Law
• LLM Master of Law
• MSc International Business and Management
• January 2027 students: 6 November 2026

Undergraduate International Achievement Scholarship

LJMU are pleased to offer eligible applicants a £3,000 tuition fee discount towards each year of their studies.

Postgraduate International Achievement Scholarship

LJMU are pleased to offer eligible applicants a £3,500 tuition fee discount towards the first year of their studies.

Please note: Students studying LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1 and 2) and PGCert Foundations in Law Programmes are not eligible for this scholarship.

Postgraduate Regional Scholarship 2026/27

LJMU are pleased to offer eligible applicants from selected regions a £4,000 tuition fee discount. See regions below:

2-Year Masters Scholarships

For two year Master Degree programmes, LJMU offers the Achievement or Regional discount in both years.

For example, a self-funded student who is taking the 2-year MSc Nursing will receive the £3,500 international achievement scholarship for each year of study. This would equal £7,000 total discount across the two years. Similarly, a student studying the same course who is eligible for a regional scholarship will receive £4,000 scholarship per year of study, equalling £8,000 across two years.

GREAT Scholarships 2027

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year master’s programme to students from China and Mexico as part of the GREAT Scholarships 2027 scheme.

This prestigious award supports talented students who wish to pursue postgraduate study in the UK and experience world-class teaching at LJMU.

Applications for 2027 will open in November 2026.

Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships are funded by the UK government and were established in 1983.

These scholarships provide exceptional international students who demonstrate leadership potential with the opportunity to study in the UK. Recipients receive full financial support to pursue any eligible master’s degree. Chevening scholars are granted access to a variety of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.
