About the project
About the Project Projects in this direction will use small molecules and bioactive natural products to investigate fundamental biological questions across human, plant, animal and microbial systems. Individual projects may focus on disease mechanisms, plant immunity, insect behaviour, host–pathogen interactions or chemical communication between organisms. Depending on the research question, you may combine chemical synthesis, activity-guided discovery, chemical proteomics, quantitative mass spectrometry, biophysical analysis, genetics, imaging and multi-omics to identify molecular targets and define the underlying mechanisms and regulatory networks. Applicants from chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, plant science, pharmacology and related disciplines are welcome. Competitive scholarships are available. Candidates must apply separately for scholarship support. Funding is not guaranteed and is awarded based on academic merit.
