About the project

About the Project These projects are open to students worldwide, but have no funding attached. Therefore, the successful applicant will be expected to fund tuition fees at the relevant level (home or international) and any applicable additional research costs. Please consider this before applying. Signal and system modelling, numerical simulation and analysis of Optical Fibre for sensors or lasers or communications. Optical fibres are widely used in many fields. In the recent past lots of research going on in optical fibre sensors, lasers, communications for various applications. This PhD research work will on modelling and simulations of optical signal propagation in fibres for applications towards sensors or lasers or communications. This research work will be completely theoretical. Decisions will be based on academic merit. The successful applicant should have, or expect to obtain, a UK Honours Degree at 2.1 (or equivalent) in Either BEng Electrical & Electronic Engineering, BEng Electronic & Communication Engineering, or BSc Physics or BSc Mathematics. Basic system modelling, programming & simulations, mathematics. Informal enquiries are encouraged. Please contact Dr N Kaliyaperumal ( k.nakkeeran@abdn.ac.uk ) or further information.
