About the project

About the Project We are seeking highly motivated PhD students to investigate how interactions between the nucleus and the cytoskeleton contribute to tumorigenesis and cancer cell migration. Our research has uncovered novel links between chromatin and microtubule dynamics ( https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00018-012-1200-5 , https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/cpr.13348 ) as well as the nuclear envelope and actin organization ( https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4409/9/10/2161 , https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/cell-and-developmental-biology/articles/10.3389/fcell.2025.1579946/abstract ). More specifically, our current goal is to elucidate the mechanisms by which the histone methyltransferase SETDB1 affects microtubule dynamics and cellular resistance to chemotherapy as well as to understand the formation and functional roles of the perinuclear actin rim. Highly motivated candidates with a successful MSc degree in biological sciences are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should be fluent in English and have experience in molecular biology or cell biology techniques. Ariel University offers a collaborative and friendly research environment. PhD students are offered a full 4-year competitive scholarship. For more information about this project, please contact Prof. Gabi Gerlitz gabige@ariel.ac.il
