About the project
About the Project Geopolymers are an alkali-activated amorphous aluminosilicious cementitious material. Common aluminosilicate material used for producing geopolymers is fly ash and slag, both industrial by products. While a good progress has been achieved in developing geopolymer concrete focused on micro-scale level, relatively limited research has been conducted at load-bearing members such as reinforced concrete beams, columns, slabs and others. This project aims at investigating the behaviour of structural elements made of geopolymer reinforced concrete. Other aims may also look at the development of geopolymer concrete from construction and demolition waste, making the production sustainable. This project will take place in the Centre for Sustainable Environments at the University of Bradford.
