About the project
About the Project The way the smart grid is envisioned in the near future is as a constantly changing system where intermittent renewable sources and non stationary loads impose a turbulent system. If we intend to understand what is the statistical structure of the electric grid that is coming, we need to confront the dynamism of the network and discard the widespread linearized static model. The aim of this project is to develop an information theoretic framework to characterize the fundamental limits governing state estimation in smart grids. To that end, this research project will describe the information theoretic measures involved in the operation and monitoring of the grid and characterize the information theoretic limits for state estimation.
